The NCAA gave them the Letter we all have been waiting on. Bubba said he wasn't releasing the info till a later date. They needed to go over it and see what it covers. Now ain't that a Joke. It covers twenty PLUS Years of cheating Bubba !! In Five Major Sports ...

Jack you have been great with supplying us with information for years on this situation. I really appreciate the work you have done . God willing UNC will get their due.

No idea how this goes but watch for a response before 60 days. They have 90 to respond but recruit Ingram from Kinston stated a month ago that Roy told him they had the NOA. UNC has denied this and claimed Ingram misspoke. Dollar to a hole in a donut that they respond before 60 days.

Yea it almost seems like Jack broke the story on the scandal. He's always got good insider info.

You Boys have kept the HEAT Up and Long on the Cheating Bunch and it looks like they are going to get another dose of NCAA punishment . IMHO , I look for a good dose this time. One of your Main Posters has posted a very good hint on things to come. 5 sports in cheating is just a start ...

it looks like they are going to get another dose of NCAA punishment .

Packed's detailed explanations and play by play analysis were greatly appreciated. He should be a sports analyst working for nbc.

Your sources have been sport on. Is this random, or from someone you consider a credible source?

We consider the guy pretty much in the know.

The pathetic excuse that the Cheats legal team is using is that they claim they have no legal obligation to provide an adequate education. Whaaaat!!! Think about that for a minute. Those arrogant pricks have always claimed that they are a public ivy. That my school is crap compared to theirs. And let's not forget that they felt VT's academics were not good enough for the ACC. Time to serve them a heaping dish of crow...pun intended!

This is not about the quality of their education, it's about creating fraudulent classes to keep players eligible, who would not be able to participate without the university conspiring with the athletic department to artificially inflate their grades.

Smitty you are dead on with your assessment. And the emails prove it without question. UNC-CHeat keeps trying to change the narrative to throw people off. Millions spent on PR for this brilliance. But their dumbazz fans blindly follow behind spewing the company line. Good UNC grad buddy of mine is no different. He said the classes were just easy and that they all wrote a paper. So I asked him... "If there was no teacher, no syllabus, no classroom as was concluded in multiple investigations, how did they know they had to only write a paper... and what it had to be about... the length... when it was due... who to turn it into... where to turn it in?" Also, the signature on the form of the grades given to the registrar was forged as the professor whose name was shown stated it was not his and he did not teach the class. This was for over 100 classes iirc.

From this article, they give the impression that it's a none issue with no major violations.

http://chapelboro.com/news/unc/chansky-unc-happy-with-notice-of-allegations/

UNC received its long-awaited Notice of Allegations from the NCAA Friday, and all indications are that Carolina is “happy” with what that NOA says.

Sources close to the situation say that the football and men’s basketball program escaped allegations that would lead to the vacating of victories and (in basketball’s case) a national championship looking back and has not been charged with any violations that would result in a post-season ban and loss of scholarships moving forward.

Apparently, the strongest allegations point toward the university for “lack of institutional control,” which is the NCAA’s most egregious charge. Usually, that comes along with alleged violations against certain athletic teams, coaches and/or athletes. But, in this case, the NCAA adhered to its historical precedent of not judging how a university offers and teaches its academic curricula.

Unknown at this time is whether any UNC Olympic sports program has been charged with any violations.

In football and men’s basketball, at least, no specific cheating was uncovered by any athletes, which could have led to violations. The AFAM scandal revolved around what UNC calls “irregular” classes taught and graded by retired Administrative Secretary Deborah Crowder with the approval of deposed department chairman Julius Nyang’oro and were taken by 53 percent non-athletes over 18 years.

The official NCAA website says, “It is not our job to ensure educational quality . . . the NCAA did not assume a duty to ensure the quality of the education of student-athletes . . . the NCAA does not have ‘direct, day-to-day, operational control'” over member institutions like UNC.

NCAA President Mark Emmert has said a version of that publicly this spring, perhaps setting the stage for the Notice of Allegations UNC has received.

lol , kinda strange they know about football and basketball, but not the Olympic sports. Aren't they in the same report Art???????????????

Chansky is their major fan boy that thinks UNC is pure as driven snow. And he doesn't know crap. He stated PJ would be back on the BBall team. That Butch would not get fired. Etc...etc. another shill shouting the PR line. The emails and transcripts prove the collusion between academics and athletics to maintain eligibility using fraudulent means. NCAA and SACS know that too many people in the media and elsewhere know all about this info and will call them out on it if they try to sweep it under the rug. Too many professional reputations on the line.

Seems like a lot of doublespeak. Also, they support their position by quoting something from the NCAA website that has nothing to do with this case. Was just curious as to your take on the article.

I thought the lack of institutional control charge was the death knell for a program...how could they get LoIC and not get sanctions across the institution?

Yeah, that comment makes no sense.

Why would anyone think the NCAA is capable of anything shady?

Mark Emmert, President of the NCAA (wiki)

1993-The NCAA ruled that Montana State was guilty of a "lack of institutional control" while Emmert belonged to the university's senior management team along with Jim Isch, now Emmert's chief operating officer at the NCAA.

1995-98-During his tenure as Chancellor at the University of Connecticut, Emmert oversaw a $1 billion construction project that became ravaged in scandal. Issues, which included more than $100 million lost due to mismanagement and more than 100 fire and safety code violations, did not come to light until after Emmert left for LSU. Memos handwritten on Emmert's stationary in 1998 indicate he was aware of big issues with the construction project. The project became the focus of a state investigation in 2005 and then Governor Rell called it "astonishing failure of oversight and management." Two of Emmert's subordinates were placed on leave and subsequently resigned.

1999-2004-Emmert left UConn in 1999 to become chancellor of LSU. In 1999, Emmert hired Nick Saban as football coach. LSU went on to win the BCS Championship in 2004 under Saban's tutelage. In 2001-02, a university instructor made accusations of widespread academic fraud in the school's football program, including plagiarized papers and un-enrolled students showing up in class to take notes for football players who often slept through class. At the time, LSU was already on NCAA probation due to violations in the men's basketball program for violations that predated Emmert's employment. Emmert led the investigation into the academic fraud allegations and found only minor violations. The report stated "Despite isolated incidents, the allegations were largely unfounded." The NCAA accepted LSU's finding and self-imposed minor penalties (loss of two football scholarships) and declined to put the school on probation. Subsequently, two females sued the university for forcing them from their jobs as a result of whistle blowing about the academic fraud. The lawsuits were settled for $110,000 for each person. During the case, an employee of the academic counseling center confirmed the women's claims under oath, including changed grades for football players.

2015-On January 16, 2015, Senator Corman from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania handed Mark Emmert a major legal loss by forcing the NCAA to back off completely on the unlawfully-crafted Consent Decree with Penn State. Major news media outlets lambasted Emmert for his rush to judgment and started asking whether the culture at the NCAA is broken under Emmert's leadership. His presidency has been called "feckless, arrogant, self-aggrandizing, inept" and operating under "tortured logic." Mark Emmert is still a defendant in pending legal action by the estate of former Penn State football coach Joe Paterno et al.
