I know there's a little buzz about VT basketball getting into the NIT and deservedly so, but the key thing right now is to watch the fight for ACC position. The bottom four (11-14) play Tuesday, while 5-10 get to wait until Wednesday to start playing.
Right now, VT is in the 9 seed at 7-8 and would play Syracuse in the first round. Not a great matchup for them, as I think they are a postseason team with Boeheim and Gbinije and Cooney.
The key is behind them at 6-9 with FSU and Georgia Tech. FSU is trending down but GT is trending up. GT will get a win at BC next but then at Louisville and vs. Pitt, I don't think they finish better than 7-11. FSU has at Duke, vs. ND, vs. Syracuse, which is obviously tougher.
Add in VT's tiebreaker with wins over GT and FSU, so I think they are in really good shape.
