The NCAA, which has mangled its investigation of UNC for years, just had a dead elephant dropped on its doorstep. With the indictments and arrests of assistant coaches, agents, a sporting goods executive, and hard evidence of a systematic conspiracy to launder money and feed cash to the families of college recruits, the NCAA, not just the involved colleges, is going to be rocked.

Head coaches are going to be fired, as are athletic directors. Donors will be outraged. Conferences are going to regret taking certain teams, (read Louisville), and there could even be death penalties for the first time since SMU. Even if programs are allowed to continue, there will be widespread competition for "clean" coaches and ADs to fill the vacuum that is coming.

The NCAA, without subpoena authority, and with everyone scrambling for cover and no one wanting to cooperate, is going to have to try to clean their house in the dark.
