On 2/23/2016 a new Hokie was welcomed into this world. He was 7lbs 9 oz. Thirty min after he was born something didn't seem right with his breathing. He was taken from us and taken to a special room and was given oxygen to help him breath. This hospital couldn't treat his condition so he was transported to the NICU at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was diagnosed with life threatening Pulmonary Hypertension. They was on the verge of flying him to Wake Forest. He made a turn for the better and was not transported from Roanoke. We spent 15 days in the NICU where he went from a c-pap, to a ventilator in which he was on and sedated for about 8 days. My wife and I was staying at the Ronald McDonald house and spending about 16 hours a day at the hospital. In the mean time my Dad was getting the cat in and out of the garage at my house while we was gone. I later found out that he would go back to my sons crib and pray over his crib twice a day. The day we was discharged from the hospital the doctor told us, 25 years in this unit she never seen a child as sick as mine that got better as fast as he did.

On 4/2/2016 my DAD passed away from a devastating stroke. He was taken to Radford was going to be flown to Wake Forest but couldn't because of bad weather so he was taken to Wake Forest by ambulance. The doctors said that if he survived he would be unable to speak, walk, or understand language. I found out after my father's passing from my step mom that every night after he visited my son in the NICU that he would pray for the lord to take him and spare his grandsons life. My son got better remarkable fast and my dad was taken from us so suddenly.

Dad had not missed a home VT Football game for 42 seasons and talked about how excited he was to see how the team would look, and play under Justin Fuente. He started taking me to the games when I was 5 years old and turned me into the die hard VT football fan I am today. With great sadness I do not know how on earth I will be able to attend a home VT football game without my DAD.... I know he would want me to go and cheer loud and proud, just like we have in the past together. We have looked at this board for the last 10 years just about daily. We just didn't post a lot of messages. I just wanted to share this with my fellow Hokie Fans. Keep my family in your prayers. Thank You!!
