Hurricane on way

Geez...the eye of this thing is currently being forecast to pass over Chapel Hill during game time Saturday still packing 105 mph winds?

As much flooding as Eastern NC has already had over the past week, this hurricane is going to make an epic mess. I wouldn't be surprised if it gets postponed.

If it goes down as scheduled, however, and the game is played in 105 mph winds, who has the advantage? If it's played in a flooding downpour with just, say, 60 mph winds, who has the advantage? If it's just played in a flooding downpour, who has the advantage?

Noon report on WTVD shows a 50% chance the storm could move through Raleigh on Saturday. I think are guys are in talks with ND about moving the game to Friday night or Sunday.

I would think that Sunday would not be an option due to the fact that if the storm passes through it is highly likely there will be widespread power outages. I think the game will be postponed and potentially not played at all. Doubt there is an open date on the calendar that UNC and VT just happen to be free.

Our board is saying there is talk of it being a Carolina home game in Blacksburg. Weird times man.

Just play it Thursday night and move on....
Extremely impractical and unfair to UNC suddenly moving the game two days prior to when it's supposed to be. It would be less unfair to VT since they're coming off a bye, but would still be unfair to them as well.

There's really no great options here other than hoping the storm shifts eastward so this thing can go on at 3:30 in Chapel Hill like planned. Playing in Blacksburg isn't outside the realm of possibility, given its relative closeness to Chapel Hill.

I don't care where it's played but current models here in Virginia (as of tonight on WDBJ 7 out of Roanoke) shows no rain in Blacksburg on Saturday. It actually shows the rain line stopping around the Martinsville, Va. area about an hour and a half SE of BBurg. (I actually have great seats at this one in Keenan so I'm good either way.)

If I were a Heels fan I would not like that move at all, but I'm not! How would they figure out seating? That would be a mess.

Agree with you Tarheel. It is a mess and unless this is delayed and played another time then UNC will be inconvenienced more. If played in another venue then you lose the revenue associated with a home game. That will wreck havoc on your AD's budget. Either way it is not good but you certainly cannot control nature. I was looking forward to a great game.

Storm has tracked back to the East overnight. It will still be a gusty, rainy mess, but they should play the game as scheduled.

Weather forecast could change several times between now and Saturday. Game is too important not to play it. It may be for division championship. I would hate to see some team gain an advantage because VT-UNC did not play. But we need to be careful, ACC might move game to Louisville, since Louisville is now poster child of ACC.

Weather forecasts are looking much more favorable because Chapel Hill is so far inland. If current Matthew trajectory holds (it will push Eastward and even possibly make a U-turn back toward the Bahamas), Chapel Hill may not even receive more than a light drizzle throughout the game. Winds will be stronger than normal but nothing too severe -- projected at 10-15 mph during the day and up to 20 mph moving into the evening.

If you have tickets, I'd say still plan on coming down! Safe passage to everyone traveling a decent ways to get to Chapel Hill, including myself! Haha.

What section are your seats in?
