Tomorrow morning at 10 a.m., Charleston (W.Va.) George Washington 2023 offensive lineman Layth Ghannam will be announcing his college commitment. North Carolina, NC State, and his home-state West Virginia team join the Hokies as his finalists.

Ghannam has consistently shown the most interest in Virginia Tech, making his way down to Blacksburg just as frequently as to the in-state program, WVU (despite the Hokies not getting involved until the coaching change). He's taken his official visits to UNC and West Virginia, and has his official trip to Blacksburg scheduled for later this month. He's only seen NC State unofficially.

All told, the vibes have always been positive from the Hokie end, and they continue to emanate out of the Merryman Center.

In the name of thoroughness, I've poked around with sources at a few of the other finalists. West Virginia still feels like a threat to me - though that's bad more on feel than anything I've been told - so perhaps that's just a natural bit of trying to avoid the letdown if it doesn't happen. A member of the coaching staff at one of his other finalists, however, was very clear to me:

"I hear VT is the leader in the clubhouse for Layth Ghannam," he told me.

Based on everything I already knew, and what we've seen in the past couple weeks as he's checked out his other finalists, I was confident enough to put in my FutureCast last night, and am expecting good new out of Charleston tomorrow morning.
