Guys, I spoke earlier with Hannibal (Mo.) three-star OL Dylan Powell, one of the big group of official visitors the Hokies were supposed to have this weekend. Of course, that was cancelled due to all the snow in Blacksburg, nearly a foot at this point.

Powell told me he's now rescheduled his VT official visit for Wednesday. He'll also officially visit Stanford next weekend.

With the Hokies, Powell said his visit being cancelled doesn't change his feelings towards them. He told me he still has a great relationship with assistant coach Vance Vice and talks to him nearly every day. Powell does really like Stanford, too and said "It's great to be able to get an offer from a school of that magnitude." On both visits, he's looking at academic support, campus life and his comfort level.

The other news with Powell is that he's cut out Purdue, where he was committed previously, from his list. He's now down to VT, Stanford and Iowa State, though it sounds like it's more between the first two. The thing you've gotta like about Powell is that he plans on announcing a week from Monday, before signing day. He told me I don’t wanna string it out for these coaches. They’re great coaches and great men. It’s just the right thing to do." And you've gotta respect him for that.

I still think the Hokies have a slight edge here, but we'll see how the next week-plus goes, as far as if that changes.
