Guys, I actually spoke to Collins Hill (Ga.) three-star LB Emmanuel Belmar at the same time I spoke to his teammate, four-star DE Tomon Fox earlier. They visited VT officially together this weekend and passed the phone off to each other.
I feel like I have one of the strongest relationships of anyone in the class with Belmar and that's a HUGE reason I knew Fox was visiting when I did, well before anyone else seemed to know. Belmar is also a big reason why Fox is interested to begin with. Belmar told me earlier: "I work hard to try to get him to go there. He’s gonna get home and talk about it. I think his dad enjoyed it."
As far as Belmar himself, he said he thoroughly enjoyed the visit. He told me he never really considered anyone else, even with the coaching change. Belmar talked about the family environment because he's been so many times, including for unofficial visits this past fall to the Ohio State and North Carolina games.
Belmar is VERY high on the new staff and talked about how he feels like the program is going to quickly turn back around and be competing for championships again. My favorite quote was when Belmar called coach Justin Fuente "An intensified Beamer."
Belmar said his host, like Fox, was redshirt freshman OL D'Andre Plantin. The three of them hung out quite a big and Belmar said he really sat down at length with Fuente, defensive coordinator Bud Foster, assistant coach Torrian Gray and assistant coach Charley Wiles. They watched a lot of film together.
Not a huge update here as Belmar is still 100% on board with VT. But the update is that he might be the biggest reason why Fox is looking more and more like he could flip from his North Carolina commitment to the Hokies.
