Guys, I spoke a bit earlier with Darlington (Ga.) OL Patrick Kearns, who just picked up an offer from VT a few weeks ago. He's up to 18 offers already and likely won't be a two-star guy for long.

Kearns said the only schools he's visited are Duke, Appalachian State, Wake Forest and Georgia Tech, with only App State offering. So essentially, it's still early here. He claims no favorites. He'll get the first of many looks this summer this weekend, when he goes to Ole Miss.

With the Hokies, Kearns said he really likes assistant coach Stacy Searels, who has let him know that he's from the same area in Georgia. Kearns said Searels "seems like a fair coach" and though they haven't talked a ton, they've been messaging each other on Twitter, so they're building a rapport.

Aside from this weekend's visit, Kearns said he plans on visiting Georgia, Clemson, Penn State's satellite camp at Georgia State and LSU in June. In July, he plans on seeing Virginia Tech and Kentucky. So much to early to call here, which is good for VT and gives Searels more time. Kearns is obviously lower on the board now, but looks like a solid kid.
