Guys, I spoke just a little while ago with Raines (Fla.) four-star WR Rick Wells, who was supposed to visit VT officially this weekend, but obviously, that got cancelled because of the snow.
Wells told me he now has his VT official set for Wednesday through Thursday. He's still committed to Florida and plans to officially visit there next weekend.
With the Hokies, Wells said he likes how the coaches have been up front with him. Assistant coach Charley Wiles has done a good job here and visited him last week. Wiles and assistant coach Holmon Wiggins have both visited and Wells said he appreciated their honesty. "They just kept it 100 with me, through the process of me coming in and competing, not saying anything is promised."
Wells officially visited South Florida last week, the third of his three finalists. He liked the visit, but the knock there is his recruiter, Ron Dugans left last week to go to Miami. So I don't think the Bulls had a great chance to begin with, but it really took a hit there.
Wells plans to announce on signing day between VT, Florida and USF. He said Maryland has come in over the past week or so but he has no interest there. I do think the Hokies are in the lead here over the Gators, but not by a ton. And you never want to count out where a kid visits last, which in this case is Florida.
