The Hokies had sort of started to focus on him as the replacement at RB after they whiffed on TreVeyon Henderson:
It's not there yet, but this class really has to rebound, or end up about as bad as last year's (albeit with more volume). Back-to-back classes of low quality are the sort of thing that can sink a program.
That said, the Hokies have a chance to do a lot of talking on the field this Fall, and if they do it, the level of recruit they have access to will be very different. Of course, by then they'll have to be hoping for players to still be on the market (or willing to flip).
(The combination of all the above is the reason I was frustrated when the coaches took to Twitter to act like a bunch of petulant children when they missed on Henderson. Things have long crossed the "don't talk about it, be about it" border, and they seem to have little interest in that).
