Roswell, GA, lost last night against Grayson High in the Georgia 7A championship game. Both teams are ranked in USA Today's top 10. Maliq Willis, a VT commit as an athlete from Roswell was 19 of 30 with 261 yds passing and two touchdowns. His team led most of the game, but Grayson took the lead with about 1 minute left in the game, then down one touchdown with 58 seconds, Willis led his team down the field from his own 30 and threw a 20 yard touchdown pass as time expired. The extra point was good and this tied the game to put it in overtime. Grayson won the game in overtime 23-20. The QB for Grayson is a Clemson commit.

Also, VT linebacker commit Jaylen Griffen led his Rome High, GA, football team to the 5A title in a huge upset over Buford with a 16-7 final score played in Atlanta's Georgia Dome. Buford is a perennial powerhouse in GA....well, actually a national powerhouse and they have a wickedly potent offense. Rome held Buford to under 270 yards of total offense and Griffen was quoted after the game saying, "ain't nobody gonna run on us." Additionally, Griffen's team, Rome High, beat Stockbridge High, GA in the semifinal game just the week before the title game. Stockbridge High, GA, features VT commit at RB, Jalen Holston. Holston and his Stockbridge High 5A team were undefeated at 13-0 before losing 28-21 against Rome in the state-semi-final game that featured two future VT Hokies and in that semi-final game, Griffen of Rome High had 15 tackles against Stockbridge.

And last of all since I have "GA on my mind," another VT commit named Lecitus Smith, a TE commit from Fitzgerald High, GA, played for the 2A Georgia State Title Game and lost 49-26 to Benedictine High of Savannah. The QB for Benedictine is a junior and already has an offer from Miami.

Dalton Keene, a VT commit from the Denver Metro Area (Littleton) Colorado plays at Chatfield High. Chatfield lost in the state semi-finals to Pine Creek High in Colorado's 4A playoffs. Keene ran the ball and caught the ball out of the backfield and had 14 tackles. This guy is nasty. I have watched some clips on him. He's a vicious hitter. He reminds me much of Adibi. He will play LB at Virginia Tech and is going to be special. Anyway, the team that Chatfield High lost to (Pine Creek) went on to easily win the state title game over Broomfield by a score of 36-14. Keene had offers from Colorado, Nebraska, Michigan, Virginia Tech, and many others.

In Michigan, VT commit Kalil Pimpleton of Muskegon High lost in the 3A title game to a team called Orchard Lake 29-28. Orchard Lake scored with 4 seconds left to win the game. Pimpleton was special though, scoring 2 touchdowns and playing QB, RB, and WR during the game. He had 88 receiving yards, 58 passing yards on 4 attempts, and had 64 rushing yards on only 9 attempts for an average of 6.2 yards. His team was upset. Muskegon was heavily favored.

Really good information. I can't recall that Tech has ever had much luck recruiting in Georgia. Now if we could just keep the kids in Virginia.
