1) Were we really one of the four best teams in the country? NO. We had zero shot of the playoff, regardless of what ESPN says. So at end of the day this loss doesn't necessarily hurt us. We STILL control our own destiny. That said..
2) Our road has gotten harder, as we cant afford to trip up. BUT, maybe a loss is what we needed. I HATED Evan's comments last week, I think it was poor leadership that led to poor focus, as a whole. This is a classic example to learn and see just how mature our leaders are. Remember, we are still YOUNG, and most of this team will be back next year. This was going to happen sooner or later. I'd rather it happen NOW opposed to November or to UVA. We got beat in every aspect of game and that can be attributed to everyone coaches included. It's time to see how we respond.
3) We MAY lose Thursday, but I don't think it will be because of lack of focus. Miami is a good team. I am interested to see Fuente vs. Richt. We need to support our team Thursday.
4) Bud Foster has to change something. It seems like once a year he simply gets outschemed. This year it was Syracuse. Last year it was UNC. Year before it was ECU. We arent getting out talented, we are simply failing to make adjustments. All day Saturday they had mismatches and we failed to adjust and take away the underneath stuff. We weren't prepared for Dungy's mobility, and that is a problem.
5) We can still win the Coastal and still BUILD on this loss. We have the chance now to accomplish our goals and finish the year GOOD, but importantly do so in a quiet manner. This team clearly did not handle success well - - which is to somewhat be expected when you are young and haven't experienced it before. We are still a tallented football team, and now have the chance to fly back under the radar. We do this with the same focus we had for the last month, come late November we will be in a great spot.
6) We will really learn about this team Thursday. I think we will be fine. I think we have a fine group of leaders and tallented players. If we build off this like I think we will, and Fuente responds and proves to be the kind of leader I think he is, than this loss may end up being a blessing long term.
