Virginia Tech has long been courting Stephens City (Va.) Sherando four-star linebacker Dylan Rivers, despite his commitment to Penn State. He has taken multiple unofficial visits to Blacksburg, and his official visit cam the Dec. 9 weekend along with many of the Hokies' commits.
This weekend, Rivers went to State College for his official to the program he's long been committed to. Instead of that trip shoring up his pledge and shutting down contact with Virginia Tech, it seems the opposite has transpired.
Sources suggest that Rivers used his trip to campus to inform the Nittany Lions that he won't be suiting up in the Blue and White. While he didn't tell them that Virginia Tech is definitely the destination... it's the only other school that has remained in consistent contact. The timeline for a public move is not known yet, but it could just be a matter of time.
Adding a four-star and the No. 13 inside linebacker recruit nationally (and notably, yet another top in-state kid) seems an inevitability - and a huge boost for VT.
