Virginia Tech hosted a few key football visitors on a blustery Saturday afternoon just a couple days ago. Here's the intel on those who made it to Blacksburg.
Nehki Meredith has been a regular visitor, and enjoys every time he's on campus. The Class of 2020 Ath hasn't even really begun to narrow things down, but you can bet the first school to offer - VT - will be there until the end.
His 2019 teammate, Adarious Jones, doesn't like to say a whole lot when it comes to the recruiting process. At the very least, he looked like he had fun:
Jones is certainly on VT's recruiting board, though it's unclear exactly where he slots into the pecking order. He's one the staff likes, but given a timeline that looks to extend into next February, are they wiling to wait?
A couple other Bishop Sullivan prospects (2019 DB/Ath Jayden Lilley and 2020 OL CJ Scott, whose father is the head coach of the program) also made it to town, in addition to Quinton Gregory, who was on my initial list.
One prospect who I hadn't realized was going to visit until he was on campus was 2019 kicker Anthony Rodriguez.
He picked up his first offer, from Air Force, Tuesday, and plans to be a consistent visitor to Blacksburg. While an offer didn't come, at the very least a preferred walk-on opportunity will be on the table. Pending a bit more clarity to the future of the VT kicking position, that full scholarship is a possibility down the road, according to the conversations he had with the VT staff. I'll have the full interview with him up today or tomorrow.
I haven't caught up with 2020 DE (and Woody Baron brother) Tyler Baron to confirm he made it to campus, nor have I confirmed it through sources. I'll catch up with him this week to check.
I actually had a miscommunication with North Carolina OL Parker Moorer. His visit is for this upcoming weekend. Stay tuned for an update after that time.
