It could not have happened to a nicer slime ball.
That was a really pathetic, lame "effort" by UNC's big men last night. Until there was 4:00 left in the game, I watched in amazement as they all stood around and watched dribble penetration all game long without providing any help defense, and then watched them all stand around and watch 1 UNC player battle 4 Nova players for rebounds. Nova dominated UNC in the paint on both sides of the ball with a much smaller lineup, and that was all 100% effort on their part.
You can't show up at a title game and half-ass it like UNC did and still expect to win. The fact that the game still came down to one shot shows how one-sided the game could've been in the other direction. Also, William's weird player rotations disrupted offensive flow, and UNC basically played at Nova's pace and tried to outshoot Nova instead of pushing the ball and pounding it inside, which has been UNC's game all year.
I said before the game that it was UNC's to lose...well they sure went to extraordinary lengths to lose it. Congrats to Nova for showing up ready to play with everything they had last night. As bad as UNC's big men were, though, the guards were terrific. They almost single handily won the game for UNC.
