Talked with Detroit Cass Tech four-star cornerback Donovan Johnson this week and he gave me a top three that includes Virginia Tech. The Hokies are one of his more recent offers (late winter/early spring) and he has yet to visit Blacksburg, but he's been impressed with the communication from the coaching staff.
Johnson is ranked No. 179 in the 2017 class and just came off winning DB MVP honors at the Opening regional in Columbus this past weekend over a deep DB group that also included big names like five-star Lamont Wade and Jamyest Williams. Johnson clocked a 4.43 at that camp, fastest on the day.
