What we expected

When CFU was hired, the expectation was (at least my expectation), that we would have a prolific passing attack in the future, and a balance running attack. I have been impressed with the QB recruiting (here's hoping that Hooker stays, but expecting other in lieu of Patterson), and the WR recruiting is excellent talent. We appear to be upgrading our offensive line, and still chasing that elusive talent at RB. I do believe we will get there on offense.
Defense is another story. I was stoked about having quality depth at LB (although young, still quality), and while we have a lot of bodies in the secondary, there are few apparent long term stars (they could still be there, but have not matured yet). The DL and outside pass rush have been less than adequate against the competition, and upgrades are needed at those positions (the bandage of JUCO as a stopgap being the current solution).
Much has been debated about roster management (over recruiting at one position in lieu of needs at other positions). I suspect this exists at the majority of schools. What I take from all of this is that we still need time to build the program to have our normal beast mode defense, and have the offense we envisions when CFU was hired. Just like a corporation, having the right people in the right places produce continued success. I believe we will get there, and it is about what I expected in the short time CFU has been here.
