7-0 Patrick Wessler of Lincolnton (N.C.) Combine Academy committed to Va Tech at the conclusion of his official visit, this morning.
Wessler is a big bodied, left handed true post player. He is a good passer out of the post - and you can do some interesting things playing off him as a trail big and from the high post. As he continues to get stronger the hope is for him to become more of an offensive threat. He is solid over his right shoulder, and as he continues to get stronger in his base and core, he should be able to hold position better and play against length and athleticism better. Wessler’s shot is not broken and the thought is he can become more of a pick and pop threat in time.
This a weak class nationally for bigs, Wessler is a legit footer and he has some interesting tools that, in time, could become something. He is currently ranked outside of the Rivals150.
Inside Tidbit - Wessler was set to commit to Providence last week, but he didn’t get the warm and fuzzies on the visit and left there with the intentions to commit this weekend.
