There was never a whole lot of traction here, especially when the Buckeyes were already in the mix before the Hokies even showed attention. Certainly the Hokies shouldn't plan their recruiting around running scared from anyone, but there's also a balance of not throwing out offers where you'll have no chance to land a kid 1) wasting your time evaluating guys to issue lost-cause offers, and 2) making your serious targets think that a VT offer is no big deal because everybody has one.
