I find it interesting that Ole Miss has imposed its own sanctions given all of the NCAA violations. What amazes me is not whether Ole Miss was cheating or how bad things were. It amazes me that Old Miss was this cavalier in their skirting of rules. Incidentally it also amazes me that they imposed pretty decent sactions against themselves. To put this in perspective UNC commited widespread academic fraud inclusive of in their football and basketball programs and yet have gotten off virtually free. Miami had boosters paying players and had modest repercussions. In both cases the NCAA was inept and ineffective as a governing body.
At least I give the University of Mississippi credit for being proactive (certainly not for ethical conduct). Also note that the NCAA did not have to do anything. It would have been amusing to see if they would have which is highly doubtful.
