The weekend's visitors are beginning to filter out of campus, and it was an outstanding weekend on the recruiting trail. The #TX2VT movement is picking up major steam. I can confirm that VT got at least a couple commitments from weekend visitors, but they're in different situations in terms of announcement timelines.
Indeed the Texas visitors in particular seem to be set on holding off on their announcements (whether that's for VT or someone else, but I think you catch the drift here) until Wednesday. A big splash on the opening of the Early Signing Period looks like the goal - and that's been encouraged by the Hokies' coaching staff. Your mileage may vary as to whether that's the right choice, with the potential to build some momentum into that early Signing Period also possible if there were announcements today, but there's a plan behind that decision, at least.
One prospect should be announcing his commitment this evening, and another prospect offered his commitment but was told to wait to see how the numbers shake out after the early period, and the staff will sign him in February if there's room. They don't want him to scare off other options now by making a commitment, in case there's not room in the end.
Obviously, the nature of the recruiting weekend's outcomes means that some of these prospects don't want to speak on the record (or have on-the-record interviews published, at least) until they're ready to break the big news, and as always, we'll respect that.
Still, it's going to be a fun week, even if some of the forthcoming positive news is going to be obvious by the time it becomes public.
