Remember when Virginia Tech lost an elite dual-threat quarterback from home turf to Florida early in the last recruiting cycle? It may actually be easy to forget, because Richmond Henrico three-star Jalon Jones picked Florida so early in the process that we mentally moved along. Well, after one semester in Gainesville, it seems he's one moving along.

Jones attended St. Frances Academy as a junior before heading back to Henrico in his senior year - a move back home - and another move back home may make sense for him.

Virginia Tech's quarterback depth chart got a boost when Hendon Hooker decided against transferring (while the Hokies added Knox Kadum in the 2019 class), but it's still a little sparse. A player looking to get back to the Commonwealth, a school that needs help at his position (in terms of depth and top-end talent)... it should be a match made in heaven.

The situation is very fresh - his entry into the transfer portal just leaked this afternoon - but you can bet on the Hokies pushing to get consideration from the 6-3, 200-pounder. Certainly they (and I personally agree) evaluate him as at least a four-star talent, and a quarterback whisperer like the Justin Fuente/Brad Cornelsen combo has been in the past may be the perfect fit.

I've reached out to Jones himself for comment, and we shall see what the response is (if any - I typically don't expect kids already in college to get back to me, and consider it a bonus if they do).
