Game 2...5-4....Hokies!!! Neither team having a good season so far in Baseball. Today will be terrible weather for baseball game. More like football weather.
Question for baseball gurus.
Yesterday in 9th inning, UVA had winning run on 3B with 1 out. Why did VT not intentionally walk next 2 hitters to set up a force at the plate, or a possible inning ending DP ?

There will most likely be some games where VT will do exactly what you said. It usually comes down to match ups. Even though the guy that got the game winning hit was 3-3 at the time, he was the 8th place hitter, so VT was probably thinking their best chance to get out of the inning would be to get the 8th and 9th hitters out instead of having to eventually face the leadoff guy.
I understand your point about the double play, but getting one is no sure thing, so our coach felt better about going the route he did. It is not a no brainer either way, and I have no problem with the decision.
