There is talk, (elsewhere, not here), that this is a play for a coach who has an existing connection with the 757. His DBs picked off 23 passes in 2015, among the tops in the NCAA.
So how will he fit in Bud's "put the CBs on an island, and crowd the line of scrimmage" defensive tendencies? Does anyone know if his Virginia connections are real? Since he wasn't among the names rumored for the job, is this a Fuente play, or a Whit play? Taking a lateral job from one major conference to another is pretty unusual, though obviously not unheard-of. This apparently happened fast, with the interview, offer and acceptance happening within hours.
