I have made one! My expectation is that a prospect visiting for this weekend's junior day will end up a Hokie sooner rather than later.

That player is not the most heralded on the board, to say the least, but he's one with plenty of Orange and Maroon connections. Virginia Beach Green Run wide receiver Knahlij Harrell should come off the board sooner or later - and probably the former:

A source close to Harrell reached out this week to let us know that the end is near. Uh, of his recruitment, we're not in the opening act of an asteroid movie here.

"[He] is about to pick Virginia Tech this weekend, or he might wait until after his West Virginia junior day on Feb. 3," the source said. "It's gonna be one of those two, and it's going to be within the next two to three weeks."

After Harrell had previously narrowed to a final five that included those two along with Duke, App State, and East Carolina, it probably shouldn't come as a surprise given the relative standings of the programs (and the coaching overhaul at Duke) that an early decision will be made for one of the higher-profile options on the board. The question becomes whether he does wait it out, even if he has a good time in Blacksburg this weekend.

The source didn't know for sure, but my speculation is that Harrell wants to be at Virginia Tech, but he isn't sure where he stands on the coaches' board. All indications from the VT end are that he's good to commit if he so desires. I think he would like to take both junior day visits before wrapping things up (well, as things stand right now, I know that's the case, but my read on on the situation is that even if he feels like becoming a Hokie this weekend, he waits to get one last experience in Morgantown the following weekend - the final choice is unknowable even for Harrell at this point).

If he doesn't commit this weekend, will I remove my FutureCast? Probably not, but I'll feel less certain that VT is bound to beat out WVU, if only because the door it open.

He'll certainly be one to watch this weekend for potential fireworks, even if he holds off for another week.

Took a look at what he means to the rest of 2025, as well as the future of the program.

Lists Hokies in Top 4 alongside Cincinnati, Maryland, and Pitt. Appreciates head coach Brent Pry and staff, particularly running backs’ coach Elijah Brooks, who is known as a relationship-builder in the DMV. The two are “in sync” he said, building a player-coach relationship that most do not have. Tech represents the true embodiment of a Power 5 program in the area, the chance to study and play football with the Hokies “a great opportunity.” Additionally, he mentioned Tech’s overall recruiting presence in the DMV, something West and other prospects continue to take note of and appreciate as they compete to the best of their abilities on the high school football field and in the classroom.

Will be interesting to see if the Hokies hold on here. I like Ryan quite a bit, but he's not irreplaceable from a talent perspective if it falls through:

The Hokies will compete with West Virginia, who he received first offer from, and others, for Marshall, a 6-foot-6, 200-pounder from Upstate South Carolina that was intrigued by the offer from Coach Derek Jones’s secondary.

Marshall recorded a whopping 71 tackles and nine interceptions last season, helping the Rams to a state championship season. Quarterback Cutter Woods, who has earned from multiple ACC schools, including Tech, rival Virginia, and Syracuse, is another player to watch for the Hokies that is a teammate of Marshall at Westside High School (Anderson, S.C.).

Overton also made it up for a visit this past weekend. The in-state RB quickly becoming a top priority for Pry and his staff

A weirdly solid visit list for a non-holiday Monday. But the staff has been working to get this put together. I'll have a full list a little bit later this morning, but I've already mentioned in-state LB Brett Clatterbaugh and a couple others. Stay tuned.
