Quite honestly, from a societal perspective it's probably the right thing to do. But to do it without providing any sort of alternative for student-athletes and their families (and to a lesser extent, college coaches) over it, while refusing to adjust signing deadlines and the like... well, the NCAA has always been considered (credibly so, in my opinion) anti-student-athlete, and doing things that harm student athletes without putting something on the other side of the scale to help them out isn't going to change that.

I have a lot of thoughts here:

I think they're harsh on Hooker, and (despite negativity) not harsh enough on the OL. The defensive grades are pretty fair to me, though shout out to Dax Hollifield for easily his best game of the year, and probably one of his best in a Hokie uniform:

I like this kid. I think his offer list will continue to grow. Talking to Wisconsin the most right now, but almost all schools on his offer list “multiple times” a week.

The "touch base with" process - rather than saying "this guy is at the top of our board so we will pursue him until he commits elsewhere, then we will begin pursuing the No. 2 guy on the board until he commits elsewhere, then we will finally move on to No. 3..." and so on, has been one of the problems in recent classes. Even if they don't want these guys - or want them right now - keeping interest up is always smart.

He was never healthy enough to really challenge to contribute... but this further underscores the need for more OL depth in this class (and better numbers at OL in the average class, as well):
