Tunnel Talk EXTRA: A couple unofficial visitors for today's basketball game

From our own Corey Evans:

I think Cone is a great fit for what Buzz Williams likes to do, and with NC State seemingly dragging their feet in his recruitment, the Hokies are in great position. He would be an awesome piece to start the 2020 class. I understand the reservations about his size, but kid can flat-out play, and I'll take that despite not being the physical specimen.

Thomas is a really nice player too, and an in-state kid (he attended Chesapeake Oscar Smith before transferring to Oak Hill). He's a scoring guard, probably not the elite three-point shooter you'd hope for, but more a guy who can get into positions he likes and finish at the rim. IF you have undersized point guards, you might not want a guy with that profile - who is also only 6-2 - as your top SG target in this system. How good a fit he is, then, depends on who the Hokies can also reel in around him.

Ryan Willis

has to have the lowest football IQ of any quarterback I have ever seen play the game. I have no idea why we stuck with him...hell if we had Grant Noel or Nick Sorensen back there we would have won 8 or 9 games this year.

Pathetic job by the coaching staff to have him be the guy we had to pin our hopes on.

Update to the scholarship chart

With redshirts from the 2018 reflected, and a first look at the early numbers in 2020:

Post-early signing period: Remaining 2019 needs and first look at 2020

Of course, we saw 2019 start with similarly low numbers are we're looking at a 20-plus member class come February, so the early numbers always need a grain of salt. As I said in the story, I do think the change to the redshirt rules will make beginning numbers stay smaller each year (but perhaps with a greater average growth in class size over the course of each cycle).
