Renewal Timeline

December 19, 2018 – Season ticket renewals begin

January 31, 2019 – Deadline to renew season tickets in priority

February 2019 – Hokie Scholarship Fund donors without season tickets in 2018 able to purchase. Public season tickets also on sale.

March 31, 2019 – Hokie Scholarship Fund giving deadline

Giving Deadlines Explained

Please note, that as with the previous two seasons, there is a deadline to renew your season tickets (Jan. 31, 2019) and a deadline to give to the Hokie Scholarship Fund (March 31, 2019). The ticket renewal deadline in January is the last opportunity for fans who had season tickets in 2018 to renew their tickets in 2019. The Hokie Scholarship Fund giving deadline on March 31st is the last chance to make your gift to the Hokie Scholarship Fund for 2019-20 football benefits, including any scholarship seating requirements associated with your season ticket renewals and maintaining or increasing your giving level to retain football parking locations for the 2019 season.

Following the ticket renewal deadline, season tickets will go on sale to the general public without locations. Individuals who purchase season tickets at this time — and make a minimum gift of $100 to the Hokie Scholarship Fund by March 31, 2019 — will receive a Hokie Club ranking for 2019 seat selection in Lane Stadium. Seat selection will occur following the Hokie Scholarship Fund deadline of March 31, 2019.

Information regarding student season tickets for 2019 will be released in the spring.

What we expected

When CFU was hired, the expectation was (at least my expectation), that we would have a prolific passing attack in the future, and a balance running attack. I have been impressed with the QB recruiting (here's hoping that Hooker stays, but expecting other in lieu of Patterson), and the WR recruiting is excellent talent. We appear to be upgrading our offensive line, and still chasing that elusive talent at RB. I do believe we will get there on offense.
Defense is another story. I was stoked about having quality depth at LB (although young, still quality), and while we have a lot of bodies in the secondary, there are few apparent long term stars (they could still be there, but have not matured yet). The DL and outside pass rush have been less than adequate against the competition, and upgrades are needed at those positions (the bandage of JUCO as a stopgap being the current solution).
Much has been debated about roster management (over recruiting at one position in lieu of needs at other positions). I suspect this exists at the majority of schools. What I take from all of this is that we still need time to build the program to have our normal beast mode defense, and have the offense we envisions when CFU was hired. Just like a corporation, having the right people in the right places produce continued success. I believe we will get there, and it is about what I expected in the short time CFU has been here.

Sleeping giants

The ACC has had plenty of turnover in recent years, and will continue to have more as time rolls on. VT will continue to improve with recruiting and developments, but there are also some other teams that are on a positive trajectory as well. NC State, Syracuse (although I expect their coach to move up at some point), FSU (they have to improve), UVA (make no mistake, they are getting better), Miami, Pitt all have positive futures. Wake Forest is building, and Duke will be constant as long as Cutliffe is there. GT is an unknown for several years, and Clemson is Clemson. Out of all of these, I believe NC State, VT, and/or Miami are going to be the sleeping giants (in addition to Clemson being the steady force), in the next 3-5 years.
