Hokies make final five for 2017 PG

One of the breakout stars of the summer was point guard Wabissa Bede. He's tough, he's a winner and he's physically ready to step in and help a high level college program. He's not currently ranked, but will enter the Rivals150 in the four-star range when rankings get updated later this month.

The Hokies have made his final five and have an in home visit set up with him. I would expect an official to be set soon and from what I've heard (so far) they are right there with Butler at the top of his list.

Best Wishes to You All

Well Hokies, I thought I would write to you to say good-bye and to let you know how honored I have been to be with you over the years. I wish to thank each of you for all the courtesy paid to me and to thank the Hokiehaven staff also. I wish you all the very best of luck with your lives and the lives of your loved ones.
I believe that this board is in good hands with their latest change. I am highly impressed with the talent exhibited by our new leader.
Go Hokies!

An important day on the recruiting trail...

Two four-star 2017 targets set to announce commitments.

Virginia Beach Bishop Sullivan wide receiver Tahj Capehart is up first, announcing on ESPN Radio with our good friend Matthew Hatfield at 11 a.m. You can listen here.

Virginia Beach Cox defensive end Jordan Williams has a commitment ceremony at his school at 5 p.m.

It should come as no surprise, but I've got the Hokies going 1/2 on the day, anding Capehart and missing out on Williams. The unfortunate part of that is, if you're landing one and missing the other one, that's the way you miss out on the greater position of need (defensive end), and in my opinion the better overall player (Williams) as well. I've got him going to Clemson.

Feelings in Blacksburg are positive around Capehart, naturally. They're less negative on Williams than you might expect, and like I've said a few times in the past several days, VT made up a lot of ground on Clemson in his recruitment. It will surprise me if it ended up being enough to make the steal - and when I'd most recently talked to him he said he already knew where he was going... with a visit to Clemson still coming up. It would have taken a pretty serious change (like pushing back his commitment date) for me to pick anyone other than the Tigers.

Does landing just one of these kids help Virginia Tech get its foothold back in the Tidewater area? I think so. They had been developing a recent reputation (or trend might be the better word) for being basically a non-factor in the Hampton Roads area, so any prospect from the area picking them is a step forward, even if missing on another is a half-step back.

We'll see how the day turns out, but there's no question - even if Williams does the expected and ends up heading to Clemson - that it should be a positive one for VT.
