Recruiting Taeshawn Alston sets his official visit

If he makes it to the visit without being committed elsewhere (and there's no smoke that he will be off the board by them), there are plenty of tea leaves pointing in the Hokies' direction. Of cours,e lots can change in the next four months.

Jaire Richburg already thinking about a Blacksburg return

Extra Notes

Among additional activities the lengthy pass-catcher (who runs crisp, smooth routes) and other prospects were able to participate in included a campus tour and ‘Enter Sandman’ event, where players ran through the tunnel at Lane Stadium. Recruits also hung out together in the players’ lounge. Richburg ate “good food.”

The athlete admires the towering statue of Tyler Bowen. “He’s one of the tallest coaches that I’ve seen,” Richburg said. For the Hokies, 'anything it takes' to earn to sign the services of the best prospects in college football.

Also count Tech’s beautiful campus, featuring several dining areas, state-of-the art buildings, and thousands of friendly students as additional potential reasons for Richburg to ‘come home’ to the Hokies. “The campus and the students are incredible. (The campus) looks like it belongs in a movie or something,” he said.

Lane Stadium environment

“They showed us some statistics which (suggested) it almost always sold out. With ‘Enter Sandman,’ especially against a rival, like Virginia, the fans show out, and the atmosphere is always electric. I just can’t wait to see it for myself,” he said.

Wardlaw’s Lean

Look for the Hokies, along with head coach Mack Brown and North Carolina, to play a major factor when it’s time for Richburg to make his eventual decision. Brown's Tar Heels possess a major pull instate, Bryce Baker. Richburg’s senior teammate and close friend, is a four-star pro-style quarterback that is currently committed to Carolina.

Obviously, though, based on Richburg's comments regarding the Hokies, and Tech getting out of the gate early to host Richburg on campus soon after his offer, expect Pry’s program to be in the thick of things with the big target wide receiver until the end.

Richburg lists offers from Appalachian State, Boston College, and Louisville alongside his early favorites, which he said included the Hokies, Tar Heels, Blue Devils, Demon Deacons, Wolfpack, and Nittany Lions.

Recruiting Former Michigan signee Jaden Smith to Kentucky

I was having a real hard time seeing where the numbers were gonna come from (and how the staff was going to choose to use them at linebacker), so while it's not a "we didn't want him anyway" situation, the reality is it would have been tough for VT to swing at this stage:
