The Hokies weren't in it until the end, but they've continued to try to work for inroads at some of the power programs - he went to Plantation American Heritage - in South Florida. There's also a somewhat familiar path to sell, with Justus Reed heading from UF to VT (with a stop at Youngstown in between). It didn't work out for Chatfield at Florida, but a kid who was an OLB prospect who has bulked up to 6-2, 260 (and may no longer be coveted by the Floridas and Oklahomas of the world) could be a guy VT would have a use for as a depth piece this season, and to challenge for a major role next year.

The staff is evaluating and (depending upon that evaluation) planning to reach out. My first thought is that he likely stays closer to home and drops a level, but major-school options would likely change that.

I had almost forgotten how exciting the starting group is going to be:

...but the depth is mostly either going to rely on true freshmen to outperform their recruiting rankings (in the case of Da'Wain Lofton at the very least, a safe assumption), or be really, really poor.

Excited for the season to start (he deadpanned).

If Blackshear, Holston, and King can remain healthy, I think anything the depth provides here may very well be gravy. Lots of potential from that leading trio.
