Nebraska transfer Pheldarius Payne is now officially on-campus

Punter Peter Moore was put on permanent scholarship (not year-to-year as is sometimes the case for special teamers recruited as PWOs)

Braelin Moore has moved from DL to OL (as expected, though I'll admit he was better on defense as a senior than I'd expected, this is the right move). We shall see if Gunner Givens eventually follows

DJ Sims has left the football program, though he won't transfer elsewhere to play. He's just leaving the game (as is sometimes the case here, don't be surprised if in a year or two we hear "Virginia Tech WR DJ Sims is in the Transfer Portal" about a kid who hasn't played in years)

Monteque Rhames drops from 10 to eight (with a little bit of shakeup, as well). VT in the hunt, expecting to host him for a game this Fall, though obviously there's plenty of time for his recruitment to take more twists and turns:

He'd been torn between Ole Miss and VT for his last official visit slot, so the fact that he's in Oxford means no official visit to VT:

That... probably also means he's not picking VT (though he's implied to me that, because the Hokies are pushing hardest for him, it may ultimately be worth his time to take a visit on his own, I have a hard time seeing that come to fruition).

He's a top-notch cornerback and one of the few remaining players who could end up on the field in Lane Stadium this Fall - though there are others in the Transfer Portal the staff is keeping tabs on, none of those situations are quite as serious. They may become so if Rashada is off the table, of course. I'll catch up with him at the conclusion of his Ole Miss visit for an update on where things stand.

What’s the deal here Tim? Heard he is asking out of his commitment to VT.

The three-star DE has visited Blacksburg on a couple occasions, but I don't have a strong feeling that it's Virginia Tech (the x-factor being that the Hokies are kiind of hot right now, and kids can sense that and want to be a part of it. That could always be the case when a kid changes up a timeline):
