Xayvion Bradshaw's LOI is in

Won't push the front-page story until the kid has a chance to publicize it himself (it's his day, there's no need to spoil it), but he should be announcing any time now at Graham High.

Both kids from Graham are now VT leans

Notre Dames recruiting top analyst has stated Graham Highs Xay Bradshaw is the number one target in their class and that he would be a 5 star recruit if he played at a larger school. He's been considered a Notre Dame lean for a while now. He's now likely A VT lean due to the coaching change.

Graham's Brody Meadows OL, made Army First Team All American and is one of the top OLs in the country. He committed to UVA back in June. He's now likely A Tech lean.

Graham plays for the state title this upcoming Saturday in Salem. Do not be surprised if during the following week, both of the kids from Graham commit to VA Tech for the 2022 class which would likely push us into the top 20 in class ranking.

BBall games

So in Mike Young's third season, we have a mature, state-level team in the ACC and lose to Memphis, Xavier and now Dayton, a young team...three city teams and I can't help but think...WTH!! This is UNACCEPTABLE!! This is BS. Then Wake has an enrollment that's the smallest in the nation and we lose to them!!!! WTH???!!! This ought not be so. This defies ALL logic. What must be done to fix this crap??

INSIDE the Tunnel EXTRA: On a current commit

After being very adamant on the heels of a visit to Michigan that he will still be a Hokie, there's a possibility that quarterback Alex Orji may not be as locked in as he seems.

A couple factors to keep in mind here. Orji and his dad, Willy, have both been pretty clear that nothing was going to sway him away from Virginia Tech (and particularly so after the Hokies hired Chris Marve, who recruited Orji's older brothers to play at Vanderbilt). That's remained the case. However, a semi-surprise official to Ann Arbor over the weekend has prospect and parent a little on the quieter side, which can obviously provide queasy feelings.

I've been in touch with our Michigan writers, who have indicated that they aren't getting feedback from the Orjis, either. The old adage applies: hearing nothing on the heels of a visit usually means either very good things for maintaining the status quo (a commitment to VT), or that there's big news coming (that is being kept under wraps until go-time). I would have assumed - have been assuming - the former, but with our Michigan writers reaching out to me for information (which often happens on behalf of the staff at the school you cover), it seems there's legitimate hope in Ann Arbor to execute the flip. Simply put at this stage, I don't know, and am not going to pretend I do.

What I will say is that the other current commits, including those who were shored up this weekend, indicate that Orji is still saying all the right things to them. That could be a kid blowing smoke before "shocking the world" (which seems to be the only goal on the recruiting trail nowadays. Every decision is not a world-shocker, guys!) on Signing Day. It could be one who's being honest with future teammates.

While he didn't have the senior year I expected of him, Orji is still an extremely talented player, and would be a major contributor for basically any Power-5 program with a year or two to develop. Not having a quarterbacks coach at this point may be a negative in selling him on remaining in Orange and Maroon, though.

I'll update the situation as it unfolds.

Timelines, commitments to other schools, etc.

Like the new offers thread, trying to keep some of this stuff organized in one place instead of dedicated thread for each piece of news. This one will have the updates on player timelines, top lists that don't include the Hokies, and other such newsbits.

I'll update this top post with something of a "recruiting schedule"

Dec. 15-17: Early Signing Period

For the sake of clarity, I'm adding a star to the events that are of actual or potential interest to the Hokies, two stars for ones they're really, really in. I'll try to keep those stars as updated as I do the rest of the list.
