Look at his lack of success at both Auburn and VT and he moves around a lot which is never a good sign. Can you elaborate a bit?
Glad he is Gone , period. And someone said he worked hard, what is that got to do with Results and Coaching. Coached Bad and didn't use the talent to their strengths , players did not like him and had a lot of run ins with other coaches . I could say a lot but that should cover it.. his jet sweep out of Blacksburg was the best play for VT..
A fair characterization is that things trended in the right direction the entire time he was at VT.
He ran the offense Beamer told him to run, and he did with a lot of Division II talent. His staff improved recruiting on the offense, especially at WR and the offensive line.
He was badly out schemed a few times by experienced defensive coaches and could not adjust in game.
He's still growing as a coordinator and I suspect that he will be better for BC than he was for VT.
WADR - are you sure you've been watching VT for the last 3 years? There was absolutely no indication of trending in the right direction unless your idea of trending in the right direction is gaining a grand total of 100 yards against a middle of the pack Pittsburgh team, or scoring 0 points in regulation against a BAD Wake Forest team the year before. To answer the OP's question, Lefty is a tireless worker, but other than that, he sucks. He's an arrogant prick who is fast to point fingers at other players/coaches when things go bad. I'm not even sure I would classify him as even a mediocre OC or QB coach. He talks a big game, but absolutely cannot back it up. Logan Thomas nor Michael Brewer improved much from junior to senior year. Both qbs still made terrible decisions multiple times a game which usually proved to be costly. (Note that's not a slight against Brewer and I think he is one of the gutsiest SOBs to ever play for VT.) As for a recruiter, again, I wasn't impressed. He recruited 3 guys while here for 3 years. 1 guy transferred, 1 has switched positions and will probably transfer this summer, and the 3rd had his bags packed to leave until Loeffler was not retained.
He was definitely without a doubt a step down from Stinespring, one thing most fans thought they'd never see.
Modest upward trend, certainly not a free fall. These numbers look like the O showed improvement:
I don't think Loeffler is a good oc, period. But I'd take him all day EVERY day over Stineblade. Not even close in my opinion. Slingspring had more to work with on average and a much better run game potential for his entire tenure. That may have been because of Hite, but he also had stable after stable of gifted rbs. Even 2star Ore was an incredibly talented rb and would likely have played on sundays if he'd have had surgery to remove head from ass.
I don't have any knowledge of how the program worked from within but have read many times that Weaver had very little to do with the football decisions, other than maybe to bless the salaries of people that Frank hired. Loeffler, in the first years, was nearly free, as Auburn was still paying the bulk of his income, after paying him to leave.I can't remember exactly how the Loeffler hire went down, but if it was by Weaver, he came at a low price tag and I think CFB had to approve.
