Thought about making this a front-page post, but it was getting unwieldy there. With VT losing some hoops talent via the transfer portal, here are some possible options for transfers in.

Got about half of minutes at Howard last year, not particularly efficient offensively but is a shot-blocker and offensive rebounder, which the Hokies could use.

Desmond Cambridge (Brown) - Down to a final three of Stanford, Vanderbilt, and VT.
Shot .304 (not particularly good) from three-point range while absorbing a huge workload. Would likely improve with more help around him.

Leaving FGCU after transferring from Marquette. Virginia Tech has been in touch.
Missed all but nine games last year due to a foot injury, but was a .380-plus three-point shooter two of his three years at Marquette. An immediately eligible grad transfer.

Started all but one game for Howard as a sophomore. Shot well from three on huge usage, while having a great assist/turnover ratio.

Kenny Cooper (Lipscomb) - Taking an official visit to WKU this weekend, VT among those showing interest.
A sit-one play-one junior transfer, he was only OK at the point for a Lipscomb team that was very good compared to historical standards.

Alihan Demir (Drexel)
A grad-transfer immediately eligible power forward. A good two-point finisher and rebounder.

Cheikh Mbacke Diong (UNLV)
Rebounding and post specialist. VT could use one, especially assuming Kerry Blackshear Jr. stays in the transfer portal (or goes to the NBA).

Familiarity from playing in the Socon against Wofford. Shot over .380 from three-point range last year.

May stay at St. John's after their coaching situation was (finally) resolved. Elite offensive talent all-around.

Was originally recruited by VT out of high school, but is leaving Texas A&M after the arrival of Buzz Williams's staff.
Three years of starting experience but sat out 2018-19. Nearly .400 three-point shooter. Immediately eligible as a grad transfer.

Plays in-state at GMU, decent three-point shooter and defensive specialist. Sat almost al of 2018-19 with injury. Immediately eligible as a grad transfer.

DMV native leaving intra-conference rival Notre Dame. Had a rough year and was only OK as a freshman. Could be awkward to head to a conference rivals.

Presumably prefer to play at the same school. Neither is immediately eligible (Sam had previously been believed to be), so might not be a great fit for tying up two scholarships.

High-usage player for a bad team. Good ball-secure distributor.

VT has already reached out.
All-around scorer for IUPUI after transferring from Vanderbilt. OK three-point shooter, more of an lal-courter at the shooting guard position.

Played at Kansas State under new VT assistant Chester Frazier. Redshirted as a true freshman, has four years to play three after a transfer.

Virginia Tech was heavily involved when he was a high school recruit. Shot better than .380 from three-point range at UNLV last year, and has power forward size.

Jahaad Proctor (High Point) - VT is already in contact
Best player for a bad High Point team last year. Good at getting into the lane to score, get fouled, or distribute.

Immediately eligible as a grad transfer. Played two years at FGCU and then last year at Arkansas-Little Rock. Do-everything wing who led them in most categories and shot .422 from three.
