Our president in a magnanimous gesture of goodwill worked behind the scenes to get the three UCLA thieves out of a probable 10 years hard labor prison to be released to allow to return to the USA. Good for him! Good leaders do good works.
Now their coach, Steve Alford, has placed all three on suspension. Our honor code which hopefully has not changed in the last 45 years from when I attended (what "honor" is there in a changing code?) would call for swift expulsion from school - they were caught with the goods from no less than three stores.
What would Buzz do? Would he merely suspend them too or would he abide by the VT honor code and dismiss his entire freshman class? I certainly hope he never has to make that choice. Perhaps by his wise and timely leadership, command, and communication as his players matriculate into college life at VT, he averts this type of challenge.
