He's not at the top of the staff's board at the position right now, but if he makes it back from his trip to Virginia next weekend without having become a Hoo (and VT's top targets don't commit by then), I would bet he ends up taking an official to VT.
Sort of a sleeper in terms of a potential player to land in the class. But he absolutely checks all the staff's priorities for what they physically want in a receiver:
This is king of the tweener-ish "scholarship guy or preferred walk-on?" additions. I lean toward walk-on who can earn a scholly before ever suiting up in a practice, but I'm getting mixed messages on the matter from various people in the VT recruiting apparatus. I'll count him as a signee - though not marked officially as such in our database until he has ink on an LOI - until I'm led to believe otherwise.
I've made no secret of the fact that I believe the ball is in the Hokies' court. If they consider him a take and push for a commitment next week, I don't imagine he'll be saying no.
Since these are the guys whose recruitments are most pressing coming up, I thought it'd be interesting to take a look at where things stand with guys who are set for official visits in June. How the first two weeks of officials go will really determine the long-term outcome of this class.

He's quite undersized, but his style of play will really remind you of Lunch Pail Defenses of yore. If he can get up to size, he could be a contributor. Otherwise, that's a heck of a practice player (and possibly special-teamer) to add without using a scholarship.
I've seen some lamentations out there, but this is very clearly a kid leaving because he (accurately) didn't think he'd ever have a chance to see the field. An example of "good attrition" - and maybe room for improvement in high school evaluations.
