Tailgating Question

I’m a Georgia grad, but my youngest son in high school is interested in aerospace engineering and Va Tech is one of his finalists. We have set up a campus visit for him on the weekend of the Duke game. Can anyone give me suggestions on where to park/tailgate with it being a Friday night game? Also, any “must-see” or do items while we’re there? Any input is appreciated.

Basketball coach....

Hi everyone: Imagine you have been through [all] this, but as a Big East fan I have a question.

Is it your impression that Kevin Willard was offered the basketball job after Buzz left? I am hearing that, but also from a Va. Tech alum that you had your sights set on the Wofford coach since early this past season.

Thanks.

Visitors list for the BBQ

I'm still getting in touch with some of the other guys who could make it to town, so don't consider this a comprehensive list yet. Still some very important prospects on the way in:

2020 Prospects
Login to view embedded media Login to view embedded media Though Saunders is committed to USF, both he and Jenkins are legit prospects for the Hokies. The close friends will head up to Blacksburg together, and if all goes well on the visit, there's a reasonable chance that they're in the class by the time they head back to the Sunshine State.

Login to view embedded media Virginia Tech offered Clements after he impressed the staff this Summer. The Hokies remain the highest-profile program to offer him, which is a positive when it comes to the shot to land him.

Login to view embedded media VT has long been one of the favorites for Sings, who plans to make an early commitment. Impressing him this weekend could go a long way toward making progress to the end of his recruitment.

2021 Prospects
Login to view embedded media Milum is one of Virginia Tech's top overall targets in the 2021 class. He's visited multiple times, and Class of 2019 teammate Doug Nester signed with the Hokies in February. Milum is, however, a baseball prospect (previously committed to Marshall) who could ultimately choose a path in that sport rather than football.

Login to view embedded media Ritzie is touring the region this Summer, with Blacksburg his second visit after the lifting of the Dead Period (he'll see NC State tomorrow). VT's need for defensive ends will certainly be a selling point.

http://rivals.com/content/prospects/2021/kelvin-gilliam-jr-222210
Gilliam is one of the state's top 2021 prospects, and VT is doing what they can to make sure a Highland Springs pipeline can be established - they've been hit-or-miss at the school in recent years, but it's a major producer of talent.

http://rivals.com/content/prospects/2021/andrew-canelas-234872
Canelas is starting to build an impressive reputation among colleges in the region, with VT and hometown NC State early standouts for him.

https://n.rivals.com/content/prospects/2021/rakim-cooper-235026
Virginia Tech is doing a good job establishing a footprint in New Jersey, and the Garden State produces plenty of talent. He's from the New York suburbs, while the Hokies have had more success in South Jersey, but a visit can establish a solid footing in his recruitment.

http://rivals.com/content/prospects/2021/javon-mcintyre-234681
McIntyre picked up an early offer from VT, and while he's still rising, he's remained interested in the Hokies. This weekend's trip is the only one he has planned before his junior season, which is a boost to the Hokies' chances to make a major impression.

http://rivals.com/content/prospects/2021/nykelius-johnson-249426
Johnson camped in Blacksburg to earn his offer. He's a two-way athlete who played mostly wideout during that experience. Taking a return trip to campus before his junior season certainly speaks to his level of interest.

2022 prospects
https://n.rivals.com/content/prospects/2022/ramon-brown-223501
Maryland and Virginia Tech are two of the early schools of interest for Brown. With VT's traditional success at Lloyd C. Bird High, there are connections to current players (linebacker Rayshard Ashby and wide receiver Jaden Payoute) to he;lp make him feel comfortable.

http://rivals.com/content/prospects/2022/reggie-fleurima-254072
Fleurima had other visit opportunities for this weekend, but chose to head to Blacksburg. That's a good thing for the Hokies, who are still trying to break into the Chicago area in a meaningful way, with help from redshirt freshman quarterback Quincy Patterson.

Stay tuned for more updates to come.
