Got a tear in my eye watching this new O

We finally have an O to go with our always good D!

Yeah we had 1st game problems but I like spreading the D, the misdirection, the getting the ball to play-makers in space.

Very efficient for the 1st game not matter who came into the game. We used 4 RBs and about 5-6 WRs touched the ball.

Evans is the real thing. He has command of the O and hits the receivers in the numbers on all his short throws so they can make plays. He throws a pretty spiral and has the fade route down pretty good with Ford and Hodges already. We can use that all year.

I like Motley getting time because we'll need him.

I'm sure that we didn't see everything on O this week in the playbook.

Foster's D was ready but no surprise. We get 2 starters back next week.

Our AD and Fuentes are looking damn smart and classy keeping Foster on.

Look out TN.

Question for Tim

I know you're new here and trying to get things established, but do you plan on having gameday stories and post-game stories with quotes from coaches and players, etc? We were pretty spoiled by the in-depth reporting from the previous regime. I for one have been checking in on what they continue to do and am considering leaving Rivals. If you have plans on running different features, adding staff, etc, please let us know so we can make decisions(including time frame). I'm sure I'm not the only one wanting to know this information.

TIA

Halftime thoughts...

Not all that far off from what I expected score-wise, though the way it got there is definitely not what I was thinking.

The Vance Vice OL renaissance may take a bit of time to implement itself. Liberty has a couple pretty good D-Linemen (NFL prospects, even), but things were rough in both phases, though I was more disappointed about the run struggles.

Evans has been the disappointment for me in the pass game. The halftime numbers really aren't bad, but things haven't been sharp at all. You can see why the coaches took a while to name a starting QB - he's just not there yet. You also can see a bit of the potential in the good things he's done, though.

Aside from a couple huge miscues (the punt muffed by the gunner, the bad Evans fumble), this would be chalked up to a "growing pains" game on offense... And may still get there by the end.

The defense has been about where I expected. They held Liberty down for the most part (when not put in a horrible situation with a turnover). This isn't a great FCS offense, particularly on the front line, but the DL is doing what you expect, which is all you can ask.

The turnovers have been nice after a couple lean ears in that department for the Lunch Pail D, but the big interception was more a product of the opponent chucking up a horrible pass than anything special from the D. Similar to the DL, you can't be upset that a play is made when the circumstances set up for it.
