Taking another look at Tre Turner's film...

For the first time since he committed, to put together the Film Room piece on him. Folks, this is about the closest thing you'll see to a five-star receiver once he puts it all together.

Ironically, part of what prevents him from being better now is being too athletic. His coaches can give him just a couple things to do (primarily fade routes or quick screens), because the opponents can't stop both on a given down. That means he hasn't had to polish some of the other aspects of his game. Then of course, that athleticism also made him a pretty good hoops prospect when he was younger, so unlike a lot of kids his age, he wasn't honing his football craft (and specifically the things he doesn't need to do for his high school team) in the offseason.

Once he hits campus and into the playbook and weight room, this kid could blossom. There's a pretty good chance - without focusing on basketball this year, and with a new head coach for his high school team - he shows enough this Fall to move up even before that.

Chris Bleich to UCLA

Just realized I didn't post about this when it happened last night. Former Penn State commit who had said he was going to visit VT (but seemed ultimately bound for Rutgers, where he's a legacy):

Lots of decommitments and wild swings in a kid's recruitment... often means the sort of kid you're not too upset about losing. Too much volatility for my tastes. Hoping it works out for him in Westwood (or wherever he eventually signs).

Season tickets go on sale to the general public tomorrow

BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech Football season tickets go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. on Wednesday. Season tickets remain priced at $350 for a fourth consecutive year and are available to the general public while supplies last.

A rematch of the 2016 ACC Championship Game against defending national champion Clemson on Sept. 30 highlights Tech’s six-game schedule at Lane Stadium. The Hokies and Tigers will square off in the regular season for the first time since 2011 when Clemson last visited Blacksburg.

Tech’s home slate also includes Saturday home contests against ACC Coastal Division foes North Carolina, Pitt and Duke. In addition, non-conference foes Delaware and Old Dominion will face the Hokies for the inaugural time as Tech hosts both squads in September.

The Hokies are led by head coach Justin Fuente, who earned consensus ACC Coach of the Year honors in 2016, guiding the Hokies to a 10-4 record and the ACC Coastal Division title in his initial season in Blacksburg. Dating back to the 1999 season when Frank Beamer coached Virginia Tech to its first-ever 11-win season and a berth in the national championship game, only Oklahoma (14) has registered more seasons with double-digit victories than Virginia Tech (12).

‘Current Hokie Scholarship Fund Donors who would like to purchase season tickets should contact the Athletic Ticket Office by phone at 800.828.3244 or 540.231.6731 to place an order.

For non-Hokie Scholarship Fund donors, your per seat gift (where applicable) will be combined in the total cost of your season ticket purchase. After completing your purchase, be on the lookout for communications from the Hokie Club that will include important donor information and tax receipts.

Top schools list coming soon for Dillon Spalding

I would guess VT makes it, though I don't know where there'd be room for him.

In the average year, he would almost certainly be a Hokie. Landing two four-star receivers early is out of the ordinary for the Hokies, and to Spalding's disadvantage (I think if VT was on him as much as they'd be in a normal year, he'd already be committed - with the recruiting situation they're already in, it's possible he sees the writing on the wall and doesn't bother to include what would otherwise be the top school).
