USC Gamecock fan here. Paul Finebaum recently speculated that their could be mutual interest between VaTech and Shane Beamer. Has this thought even crossed the mind of any Hokies? I'd be stunned if they went that route. Just curious to see what you Hokies think about it.

That leaves just a couple Transfer Portal guys with active offers right now, both defensive tackles (Myles Cecil from Cal Poly is the other). Western Illinois CB Darius Joiner is basically in that boat (he doesn't have a formalized offer, but if he were to call the coaches and say "I want in," they'd make it happen).

You'll recall that sources on the Georgia side were telling us they were hearing he'd leave for VT. Obviously that didn't happen (and we approached that one with plenty of skepticism at the time), but clearly all was not right in Athens for him:


The craziest thing might be that it seemed a pie-in-the-sky rumor then... and the Hokies ended up with someone better (and without baggage) in the end.

VT was one of the earliest offers for Keylen Adams, but a kid this high-profile will obviously have tons and tons of suitors:

VT has moved up to #35 in the most recent NET rankings update. If not mistaken, that's a jump of 15 positions in the past week...from 52 to 35. All 34 teams ahead of VT are currently safely "in" the NCAA bracket per ESPN's Joe Lunardi. VT is the highest rated team NOT in the bracket. Lunardi has some significantly lower rated teams in his projected field, most notably to me Creighton who has a 16-9 record (comparable to VT) but a much lower NET of 73. They do however have a handful of Quad 1 wins, and VT has zero. Interestingly, VT is the second best ACC squad behind only Duke who sits at #11. We are rated AHEAD of Wake, Notre Dame, UNC, and Miami...by a wide margin other than UNC!
