I'm ready for the 1965 season. You ready?Originally posted by Hampton Roads 6:
I like Wake Forest except when they play VT. Their win over VT set college football back 50 years. We should have beaten WF by at least 42 points, probably more. But we do not put enough emphasis on offense.
Talk about silly statistics! OK, the Stinespring-led VT offense (never mind that Stiney hasn't been the OC in years. If he in Roanoke or Abington, that means he is running the offense) is beyond horrible. Let us just say, using your logic, that they are the worst defense in the nation. That is ranked 125th.Originally posted by lucustookis:
VT has 324 yards of Total Offense. Statistically, this ranks 116th in America if we average 324 per game all season.
VT had 125 yards of Rush Offense. Statistically...this ranks 105th in America if we average that all season.
VT had 199 yards of Pass Offense. Statistically...this ranks 88th in America if we average that all season.
Overall, our offense wasn't mediocre against Ohio State. It was actually......horrible. In our eyes, we are programmed to give it a pass and somehow, we make it look good in our own minds (want to believe it is true) when we get a win for the game, even though, our D won the game and the O played horrible. This was the case with OSU. 9 for 17 on 3rd downs was solid and very good, no question, but as a whole, we averaged outside 100th in America in 2 of the 3 major categories above against Ohio State and passing was not far off from being near 100th.
Difference in the game....The nations 9th ranked offense in Ohio State (finished 9th in America) COULD NOT MOVE THE FOOTBALL, and finished with its season worst, 324 total yards which would give them an average of 116th in Total O in America, if they put up 324 per game all season. Of course, they put up much more and had a top 10 total O. Our 3rd down conversion percentage did matter because it did give our defense the rest it needed.

Why so much jealousy PAB?Originally posted by Hampton Roads 6:
Good idea, but by the time I get there, they will probably have to return it to NCAA for some illegal tattoos.
