Not directly VT-related, but Matt Transue was one of the very few legitimately good recruiting staffers (at a high level - the student assistants always bust their humps, and those who have earned their way up the ladder after having small jobs under Fuente have obviously proven themselves. But there were a lot of really bad and several totally disinterested people under that group, too) under the previous coaching staff:
