Mike Young was in Orlando...

...on Saturday. According to a source he brought the entire coaching staff with him and visited with two families:

The Blackshear family and the Cattoor family.

Obviously Young is trying to keep Blackshear in the fold but my source believes that is highly unlikely to happen. My source expects Blackshear to meet with NBA teams, play at Portsmouth in May and then make a decision on whether he will stay in the draft or go the grad transfer route.

Meet Hunter Cattoor

Cattoor committed to Wofford and the assistant coach who led his recruitment joined Young at Virginia Tech. (Ignore the lack of 'stars' Cattoor is a three-star prospect and I'll get that fixed).

My source said that Mike Young met with Cattoor and his family and made it clear that they want him in Blacksburg. A visit was set up for this week (I believe he said that it will start on Thursday) and my source expects Cattoor to sign with Virginia Tech once the signing period begins on April 17.

Other schools my source named that reached out to Cattor, once he got his release, were North Carolina and Davidson. He added that there were a few more but he couldn't recall them at the moment, then he started talking about the Virginia Tech visit and basically made it sound like a fait accompli that Cattor would end up at Virginia Tech.

Women's Softball

For those who may not be aware, we have a championship caliber softball team this year. Current record is a gaudy 39-6 overall and 16-2 in ACC. This team is a virtual lock for the NCAA tourney and strong candidate to host one of the NCAA opening rounds. Without a doubt, this is the best team since the Angela Tincher era. Certainly worth following as they head down the season's stretch run!

Basketball Commitment

Hunter Cattoor a point guard out of Orlando has pledged to the Hokies after de-committing last week from Wofford. The article I saw this is in did not give his height/weight but did indicate he averaged 14 points, 6 boards, and 4 assists last season. He was "unranked" by this particular site, but I think I had read elsewhere that he was a Rivals 3 star. I'm sure Tim will have the full details later today.
