I caught up with 4-star Philadelphia ATH Tysheem Johnson to talk about his visit to the Hokies earlier this year.

VT commit Jalen Hampton and his Georgetown Prep team are scrimmaging Arlington (Va.) Bishop O’Connell.

Hampton is a big, strong, thickly-built kid (I’m not exactly breaking any news there).



I’m interested to see how smooth he is with the ball and if he’s added that extra gear at the second level. Right now they’re just going through 7-on-7, and he wasn’t targeted on any passes while his team was on offense.

There must be something that can be done to get an answer from the NCAA. This is total BS.

Gotta be honest... it's a loss, but not one that should be difficult to overcome.

It'll be interesting to see if Fuente replaces him with an ambitious external hire or promotes from within.

That's good news for the Hokies, leveling the playing field between the two a bit (though after talking to him in the wake of his visit for the BBQ Bash, I think it's fair to say Virginia Tech has been favored over USF since at least that time):

I will note that it's been interesting to see them - not just Fuente, but the coordinators and position coaches - talk pretty openly about the depth chart at some positions (Fuente does it here with running backs, kickers, punt return), and others keeping it a little more vague.

All the while, Fuente says they're getting "closer" to a depth chart. It's pretty clear that the positions they aren't talking about are the ones that aren't close to settle yet (offensive line), or if they are there are reasons not to reveal anything yet (QB).
