I think the Irish are due for a pretty significant step back. Last year's game played out closer than the final score (until Willis's inconsistency became too much for VT to string together drives), so an improved Hokie team has a real shot here:
No number of silver linings takes away the result, but even a 5% better quarterback performance and that's a win. It bodes a little better for the future, at least:
