Wake v Miami

Hard to decide which way to root in this one. Wake Forest seems to be playing much better down the stretch with a near upset of Duke in Cameron and leading FSU for much of their final game in Tallahassee. However, beating the same team (Miami) three times in one season, including twice in the span of five days is also difficult. I think I'm leaning toward taking our chances with Wake.

Like with other recent prospects, you don't need to land 'em all (and I think VT had mostly moved on from James), but the perception starts to get bad when you're messing around in Alabama while kids from Virginia, Maryland, and North Carolina are making early commitments to conference rivals.

The strategy could still pay off (and I remain pretty comfortable in predicting that UNC will lose some commits when they struggle on the field this Fall), but for the time being, it's not going to generate positive buzz around VT.

Last night's loss may actually give VT the chance to add another win before Selection Sunday

It may be small consolation (especially because it makes a potential run to the ACC Tournament championship less likely), but it's consolation nonetheless:

Hokies miss double-bye opportunity... but could it help them?

If the motivation from last night's loss helps them knock off Florida State in the second game in Charlotte, it might be even better.
