Something interesting from the staff at our Iowa site

I know some on this board have been a little wary of what seems like a much, much greater number of offers going out under Fuente's staff than previously. Would you believe that VT is still comfortably below average among Power-5 programs in number of 2018 offers issued?

Obviously these aren't going to be the final numbers, but still an interesting comparison here.

Updated O Hotboard is here

Not a wide net at this point:

Coaches probably need to continue looking for offensive linemen, even if the eventual signees end up coming from the players listed here (best case scenario: Rasheed Walker and TJ Bradley, though I don't think either ends up at VT at this point - with time for the coaches to change that).

Story: 3-star Tennessee RB Jeremy Banks talks visit

I recently had a chance to catch up with 3-star Cordova, Tenn. RB Jeremy Banks to talk recruiting as well as his recent visit to Virginia Tech. Banks says he's going to commit soon, but I don't know if they have a spot for him right now so it will be interesting to see how this plays out as the Hokies have been one of his favorites for a while.

Here's what he had to say about the Hokies:

In His Words: "My visit to Virginia Tech was great. It was a great atmosphere, great coaches, nice facilities. It went pretty good. I brought my family with me on the trip and they were really impressed with it, too."

On the camp experience: "It was good. Their running backs coach is pretty laid back but it was good to get on the field with him and see how he coaches."

On his place on Virginia Tech's board: "We've talked about that. We've talked about everything. I will be making my decision very soon but it’s a tough choice, but I will be making my commitment very soon. It might be Virginia Tech or it might be somewhere else."

One of the players whose camp showings this spring really jump-started his recruitment was 2018 Cordova, Tenn. athlete Jeremy Banks. After earning an invitation to the Rivals 3 Stripe Camp in New Orleans by impressing at the Rivals NewSpeed Combine, Banks has been a camp warrior and seen his offer list grow from zero to more than 20. After winning MVP honors at the event, it’s possible even more schools will join Banks' list, but for now he appears to be focused on a trio of Virginia Tech, Wyoming and Utah. Banks said he and his entire family are making the trip to Blacksburg later this month, and he could be on commit watch depending on how things go.
