I'd been holding off for a while, but I'm ready to make it official: I've submitted by FutureCast for Virginia Tech to land four-star quarterback Davi Belfort this evening.

The 6-0, 180-pounder out of Miami Gulliver Prep visited Blacksburg in December and again in January, and while he's also seen his other two finalists - Michigan State and Texas A&M - on visits, the bonds he built with the coaching staff in Blacksburg (including with offensive analyst Brian Crist, who I've mentioned may be something like a
de facto quarterbacks coach this year, even though he can't engage in off-campus recruiting, he's done the work when Belfort has been in town), and the vision VT has for him have me picking the Orange and Maroon to win out.
The main reason for my delay was the opinion of our unparalleled recruiting guru in the Miami area, Frank Tucker (of
Canes County). He has been told by folks close to Belfort that Texas A&M had picked up... not quite a silent commitment, but something that it was reasonable for the staff in College Station to assume was the next-best thing... when Davi was there on his most recent visit. However, in advance of tonight's decision, Frank has let me know that he doesn't believe the Aggies have the upper hand anymore.
You can watch the commitment this evening on his Instagram page (linked below) and of course, stay locked to Hokie Haven for tons of commitment-related content.
